Eagle Star: Cheltenham, UK

This property investment was the UK headquarters of insurer Eagle Star and was purchased for £36m. The property was held as an investment asset until being sold to a pension fund at a significant uplift in capital value. Eagle Star Insurance was a leading British insurance business which underwrote the full range of risks including liability, fire, accident, marine, motor, life, contingency and Pluvius (weather) insurance. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index until its takeover by BAT industries and although the brand is discontinued the business is now one of the insurance brands owned by Zurich Financial Services.
